Outlook 2003

To send outgoing mail through Pobox with Outlook 2003, follow these steps:

  1. Open Outlook, go to the "Tools" menu (if you get other pop-up screens when opening Outlook click the cancel button next to them until you can click on the "Tools" menu), and click on "E-mail Accounts..."

  2. When the "E-mail Accounts " window appears, click on the circle next to "Add a new e-mail account " then click "Next".

  3. Click the circle next to "IMAP" and then click "Next" .

  4. This screen requires you to enter all your e-mail account information.

    Your Name: your name
    E-mail Address: youraddress@pobox.com (any of your other Pobox addresses)
    User Name: Your ISP's POP/IMAP Username
    Password: Your ISP's POP/IMAP Password
    Incoming Mail server (IMAP): use Incoming Mail server information from ISP
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.pobox.com

  5. Once you have filled out the blanks, click on "More Settings..."

  6. In this window, click on the "Outgoing Server" tab and ensure that the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox" is checked, and the circle next to "Log in using" is filled. In the field "User Name" enter youraddress@pobox.com (any of your other Pobox addresses), and in the "Password" field enter your Pobox.com password.

  7. Click on the "Advanced" tab, then check the box under "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" and next to "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)". The port number next to "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" should be "587".

  8. Click OK then click "Finish" on the window that confirms you have successfully entered all the required information.
